About Stephenie Meet the speaker and author

I’m Stephenie Hovland, Christian speaker and author, deaconess and teacher, wife and mother. God has called me to fulfill these roles, these vocations, and gives me plenty to do on a daily basis (Ephesians 2:10). I often want to do “all the things” all the time. That’s impossible! So, I continue to go back to God for His guidance and strength as I sort through how to do what He has planned for me. God reminds me that I am His child, redeemed by Christ not by my works. That is so reassuring and comforting! Because God feeds me with His Word and blessings, I gladly respond in loving service in my daily life.
I taught in K-8 Lutheran schools for many years as a regular classroom teacher. And, at different times, I specialized in science, Language Arts, and ran a school library. Like most teachers, I was up for new challenges and did whatever the schools needed me to do. While I was teaching, I helped my pastor-husband raise two girls who are now grown and have their own families to support.
I have been writing professionally for about twenty years, mostly behind-the-scenes kinds of things (like curriculum and other educational resources), but there are a few things you might find helpful as you live out your God-given vocations.
And I’ve been speaking to Christian women’s groups, church retreats, educators, writers, and parents for about ten years. I love to be a resource to others, offering spiritual and educational support for families, teachers, and Christian women.
Camping is my favorite way to enjoy the outdoors. Please join me in faith conversations, like we’re friends sitting around the campfire, enjoying God’s creation. We can connect and explore the different ways God grows our faith like a well-tended fire and how He works through us in our different roles in life.
